Data anonymization process for Candidates

Details on our anonymization process for candidate personal data

How data anonymization works in Bryq

Through the company settings, you can edit the data retention period to a shorter or longer period. By default, the data retention period is set to "never anonymize".

Either pick a value from the drop-down or type a value (in months) you like.

💡 Please note that a candidate's information can be deleted before the defined retention period on one of the following occurrences:

  • deletion of the information by the candidate; or

  • receipt of a written request to support@bryq.com.

What does candidate data look like after it has been anonymized?

Following anonymization, the personally identifiable information i.e. email and name is deleted from the system. Moreover, the email is replaced with a random ID.

Non-identifiable data, such as assessment scores, are kept for research purposes.

Here's a screenshot of an anonymized candidate, as they would appear in one of your assessments:

What is data anonymization?

The process of data anonymization involves the removal of personally identifiable information (PII), which includes any data that can be used by others to identify an individual, such as their name, email address, etc. This technique is used to safeguard sensitive and private information stored in a database and helps to maintain the anonymity of the data source, thereby preventing the identification of a specific person.

Why is data anonymization important?

If your business collects and processes personal data of consumers, it is important to comply with privacy regulations such as the GDPR in the EU. These regulations are designed to protect the privacy and personal information of users. One way to comply with these regulations is to anonymize the personal data you collect by removing any identifiers that could be used to identify individuals.

Anonymized data can be shared externally for commercial purposes without risking the privacy of users, as long as the data is properly anonymized. This means that the data cannot be linked back to any specific individuals, and therefore, it cannot be used to identify them. By sharing anonymized data, businesses can still gain insights and analyze trends, while protecting the privacy of their users.
