Overview
Bryq’s anti-cheating system is designed to uphold fairness, content security, and transparency in candidate assessments. Our multi-layered safeguards detect a wide range of dishonest practices—from traditional cheating methods to modern threats like AI-generated responses.
All signals feed into a unified Cheating Indicator, which provides a clear, color-coded summary of the candidate's risk level:
🟢 Clear – Normal activity
🟡 Warning – Unusual activity but inconclusive
🔴 Suspicious – High likelihood of cheating
This system empowers hiring teams to make well-informed, evidence-based decisions without compromising candidate experience.
Key anti-cheating measures
Focus-loss detection – Detects when candidates navigate away from the assessment window, highlighting potential use of external tools, including AI assistants.
Developer tools detection – Maintains a secure testing environment by identifying attempts to access or manipulate assessment content through browser developer tools.
Session monitoring – Flags changes in IP address that may indicate account sharing or location spoofing.
Permission validation - Confirms that camera, audio, and screen permissions are enabled; flags cases where they are disabled.
Video proctoring - Captures periodic video snapshots and audio samples throughout the assessment, helping recruiters identify candidate presence, multiple participants, and signs of external assistance.
Cheating Indicator Dashboard
Accessible through a dedicated tab, the Cheating Indicator consolidates all activity and violations per candidate and per assessment:
Shows counts by violation type (e.g., focus lost, IP change, developer tools opened).
Provides an overall risk indication per assessment for each candidate.
Allows hiring teams to review suspicious behavior with full context before making decisions.
Each safeguard contributes heuristic data on how often and how severely it is triggered, which is aggregated into a cheating probability (green = clear, yellow = warning, red = suspicious)
💡 The Cheating Indicator appears as both a column and a filter in the applicant table, allowing you to easily filter candidates by cheating level and compare results at a glance.
💡 In the Overview tab, you'll see the highest cheating level recorded across all assessments linked to the job—providing a quick summary of overall integrity risks.
