Ensuring Accessibility and Inclusion in the Workplace

In today's diverse and inclusive workplace, providing reasonable accommodations is not just a legal obligation but a commitment to fostering an environment where all employees can thrive. This comprehensive guide aims to equip you with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand, implement, and manage Bryq’s reasonable accommodation solutions effectively. By prioritizing reasonable accommodations, we can create a supportive and equitable work environment for everyone.

Bryq’s commitment to Accessibility and Accommodations

At Bryq, ensuring accessibility and providing necessary accommodations to all talents has been a core principle from the very beginning. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every talent has the opportunity to succeed. To facilitate this, our instructions to them include a prompt to contact us at accommodations@bryq.com if they require any form of accommodation.

When a talent reaches out, we focus on understanding the specific accommodation requested, without probing into the reasons behind the request. In alignment with EEOC guidelines, ADA, and WCAG standards for Accessible Designs, we empower them to specify the type of accommodation they need, beyond our built-in mechanisms like font selection and other accessibility features. Once a request is made, we promptly inform the employer that an accommodation has been requested, ensuring transparency and collaboration.

Our ultimate goal is to address any accessibility concerns that talents may have and to continuously improve our assessment process to be more inclusive and supportive to all.

Meeting diverse needs

Below you will find our comprehensive accommodation solutions designed to address a spectrum of candidate needs. From visual impairments to diverse accessibility requirements, explore how we ensure every talent can fully engage in the Bryq assessment process.

Dyscalculia

Dyscalculia is characterized by a persistent difficulty in understanding numbers, often leading to challenges in mathematics. Estimated to affect 3% to 6% of the population, dyscalculia is recognized as a learning disability, sometimes co-occurring with conditions like Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

For individuals with dyscalculia, several reasonable accommodations can enhance their assessment experience:

  1. Provide a Calculator: Offering access to a calculator can mitigate the challenges associated with numerical calculations.

  2. Simplify Numerical Data: Presenting numerical information in a clear, concise manner, and minimizing unnecessary figures in documents can aid comprehension.

  3. Utilize Visual Aids: Incorporating visual charts and diagrams, such as pie charts and bar graphs, can facilitate understanding and interpretation of numerical data.

It's important to note that the Bryq assessment is intentionally designed to accommodate individuals with dyscalculia. While the assessment does not focus on mathematical knowledge, numerical reasoning questions are included to evaluate candidates' ability to comprehend and draw logical conclusions from numerical data. Therefore, we recommend all candidates have access to pen, paper, and a calculator during the assessment to support their engagement and accuracy.

Dyslexia

For individuals with dyslexia, a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by difficulties with reading, writing, and spelling, specific accommodations can significantly improve their assessment experience. Here's how we support candidates with dyslexia:

  1. Font Selection: People affected by dyslexia may benefit from selecting different fonts that are easier to read. At our organization, we offer a variety of font options, including Arial, Comic Sans, and OpenDyslexic. These fonts are specifically chosen for their readability and suitability for individuals with dyslexia, helping to reduce visual stress and improve comprehension.

  2. Additional Accommodations: In addition to font selection, we provide further accommodations tailored to the needs of individuals with dyslexia. This may include extended time for assessments- when requested.

Visual Impairment

For individuals with visual impairments, which may include several conditions such as low vision, tailored accommodations are essential to ensure equal access to assessment materials. Here's how we support candidates with visual impairments:

  1. Dark Mode and Zooming: Visually impaired individuals may benefit from using features like dark mode or zooming in and out to enhance readability and visibility. At Bryq, we offer these options to accommodate varying levels of visual acuity and preference. Dark mode can reduce glare and improve contrast while zooming allows candidates to adjust the size of text and images according to their needs.

  2. Accessible Images: Our assessment images are thoughtfully designed to be accessible and inclusive for talents with visual impairments. We ensure that graphics are clear, high contrast, and free from unnecessary visual clutter.

  3. Color Accessibility: Recognizing the importance of color accessibility, we ensure that our assessment materials are suitable for color-blind talents. Our images are designed with consideration for color contrast and clarity, allowing all candidates to interpret visual content effectively regardless of color vision deficiencies.

📌 It's crucial to acknowledge that there are certain disabilities for which we may not have predefined accommodations. According to ADA guidelines, if an individual identifies as having such a disability, we encourage them to reach out to their employer to request reasonable alternative accommodations. This is because different conditions necessitate specific types of support, and it's paramount to tailor accommodations to each candidate's unique needs. This does not indicate non-compliance; instead, it reflects the areas where full compliance is challenging for specific reasons regarding the validity of our assessment.

Additional time is always available as an option, particularly beneficial for neurodiverse talents who may require it. It's important to emphasize that timing is not factored into scoring. This approach guarantees a fair and impartial assessment for all, regardless of their timing requirements.

Our Continued Promise

Bryq’s commitment to providing reasonable accommodations underscores our dedication to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the assessment process. By offering tailored solutions for diverse needs, we strive to create an environment where every individual can showcase their talents and abilities to the fullest extent. Our adherence to EEOC, ADA, and WCAG guidelines ensures that individuals with disabilities receive the support they need to succeed while maintaining fairness and impartiality in our assessment procedures.
